A Conestoga wagon is a historic horse-drawn freight wagon that originated around 1725 in the Conestoga River region of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Built by skilled Mennonite German craftsmen, these large and distinctive wagons were designed to transport heavy loads of farm goods and manufactured products across long distances.

Traditionally pulled by teams of six horses, Conestoga wagons could carry up to eight tons of cargo, with their iconic curved canvas covers helping protect goods from the weather during travel.

Over time, railroads replaced Conestoga wagon transportation, but their legacy lives on as an important symbol of early American travel and westward expansion. The smaller “prairie schooners” that carried pioneer families west were inspired by the original Conestoga wagon design.

Today, staying in a Conestoga wagon offers a unique way to experience a piece of history while enjoying modern comforts and an unforgettable Nebraska glamping adventure.

• The Great Migration Yurt — Accommodates up to 4 guests and features one queen bed and two lofted queen mattress pads, making it a great option for couples, families, or small groups.

• The Great Medicine Road Yurt — Accommodates up to 6 guests and includes one queen bed, one double bed, and lofted twin beds, offering extra space for larger families or group getaways.

Just a short walk to a hilltop will get you service but not just yet at the wagons. Currently very spotty at wagons.

The nearest grocery store is Russ’s Market in Hastings, Nebraska, located about 20 minutes from Spring Ranch Campground, making it convenient to pick up groceries, snacks, or any essentials for your stay.

The closest gas station is Ken & Al’s Service Station in Fairfield, Nebraska, located approximately 10 minutes away.

As much as we love furry friends, pets are not permitted at Spring Ranch Campground at this time. We know it can be hard to leave your four-legged adventure buddy behind, but for this getaway, please leave your doggo at home. We appreciate your understanding as we work to keep our campground and accommodations comfortable for all guests.

Yes — we strongly recommend making your reservation several weeks in advance, especially during peak summer months, as Spring Ranch Campground often books up quickly.

Our reservation policy is as follows:

• Full refunds are available up to 28 days before your arrival date.
• Cancellations made 28+ days before your stay will receive a refund minus a 3% credit card processing fee.
• Reservations canceled or changed within 28 days of arrival are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
• We do not offer refunds for inclement weather or when fire restrictions are in effect.
