what is a conestoga Wagon?
Conestogas were horse-drawn freight wagons that originated in the Conestoga river region of Pennslyvania’s Lancaster County around 1725. Built by Mennonite German Craftsmen, these large striking wagons were pulled by teams of six horses and carried up to eight tons of farm produce or manufactured goods. White hoods or canvas protected the goods from the weather. Railroads eventually replaced the Conestoga wagon trains. The smaller “Praire schooner” famed for ferrying countless pioneer families to the west was based on Conestoga design.
Spring Ranch Campground’s wagons are based on traditional Conestoga designs and were built by a team of skilled craftsmen.

Each wagon has its own firepit to grill on and outdoor seating and picnic table. All towels and linens provided. Right outside your wagon a bass fishing pond (catch and release) swimming with a dock and a small beach area with a hut. When you arrive, there will be a complementary smores kit. Meals if ordered before arrival will be in your wagon refrigerator and information on what all is available in the area to see and do.
